We promised you some big names and here is another. A Splendid Day Out is delighted to announce that Joseph Remesar will be joining our Q&A panel at our Arts and Steam section of the festival this June.
Son of Spanish immigrants, born in Caracas, Joseph Remesar studied writing at the
University of Venezuela, performing various literary workshops at the Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos Rómulo Gallegos, and later at the Florida International University (Miami, USA). For fourteen years he’s lived in the city of London.
He has published science fiction and fantasy novels, and participated in the anthologies “Chronicles of darkness” (Sportula 2014) and “The Best of Spanish Steampunk” (Retrofuturism – Nevsky 2014). Remesar is an official member of (and speaker at) the World Science Fiction Convention and the World Fantasy Convention, he is also involved in the selection of the winners of the hugo awards.
At Loncon3 in 2014 he also mounted an exhibition of art Steampunk together with artist Carlos Argilés, creator of the covers of their books. The submersible, is their second Steampunk-themed novel.
Dave Lee has featured in numerous art exhibits at Steampunk conventions, festivals and art galleries throughout the US, Europe and New Zealand.
We are delighted to announce his attendance to A Splendid Day Out. All the way from the USA he will feature on our Q&A’s panel, talk about his books and his creations. You will be able to get signed copies of his books and get hints and tips on building those crazy gadgets.
Dave has received multiple nominations and awards for his costuming and props (Steampunk Chronicle). A highlight for David has been to play the Steampunk Darth Vader in “Trial of the Mask” and “Mask of Vengeance”, two
Steampunk Star Wars fan films from Unruly Mile Films. He has also played a supporting role in the TV series (in production) “Paradox City”.
David is most recognized for his large props and his Steampunk vehicles. In July of 2013.
He is a published author with his Steampunk western novel entitled “Country in Ruin:1865″, a novella entitled “The Tale of Harlesden Chessington” and a short story in the HCS anthology “Steam & Steel: Thirteen Riveting Tales”.
David is a contributing “DIY” author for the Steampunk Chronicle and has been featured in numerous books about Steampunk fashion and costuming as well as the 2014 summer edition of “Victorian Homes”.

Time to start telling you about some of the daytime features at A Splendid Day Out this summer.
First up is the very beautiful Belladonna Hades, usually found on the Download stage we have persuaded her to bring her fire performance to Around the world in 80 days. Prepare to be mesmerised by the power of the flame.
We at A Splendid Day Out are hugely proud to announce the appearance of prolific Science Fiction and Fantasy author Michael Moorcock. Many of you music fans out there will know of his Association with Hawkwind, one of the country’s most famous progressive rock bands. Writing the lyrics of Sonic Attack from the Space Ritual Album, he has also written lyrics for the band Blue Oyster Cult.
His books have included; The Nomad Of time a compilation volume of his early steampunk trilogy. The Elric Of Melnibone series, Corum of the Silver Hand series, Hawkmoon series, and the very Steampunk, Jerry Cornelius set of books. He wrote the script for the film The Land That Time Forgot and one of his books was also made in a film The Last Days Of Man On Earth, one of his Jerry Cornelius books
We know his appearance at A Splendid Day Out is going to be of great interest to his army of sci-fi fans as well as amongst Hawkwind fans. It has been many years since he has been to the UK and Morecambe in person.
Rock & blues megalopolis Ben Miles is here to get your feet stomping and your head nodding. Catchy songs, killer riffs and an explosive live show await….
The delightful Marina will be back on the Saturday to whisk your mind to a land far away. (Well it works for me I always feel I am in a French cafe and have to sit down to listen with tea and cake) so rest your feet and take some time out to listen to this talented musician.
