There are big changes coming to Morecambe, one of them being the highly anticipated Eden project – which we’re very excited about. This particular adventure, however, has left us in a bit of a pickle. With the proposed date of opening being 2023 we are hampered by the fact there will be a massive building site, possibly starting next year and taking up all the space with construction stuff. Where does this leave ASDO we hear you say? Well, after long thought, much discussion ASDO 2020 will be moving a little down the road to The Storey in Lancaster. This is a beautiful Victorian building adjacent to Lancaster Castle, with its own theatre, light and airy gallery spaces, reading room, garden, lecture theatre, and cafe bar. Thoroughly accessible, and a little Tardis-like, it is close to the city centre and all its temptations; it is a stunning building and promises to be a fabulous venue for the festival. The same format as before, the only part of the ASDO left out will be the outside attractions as there isn’t any space for them around the building. It does have a large garden area which will be utilised to its fullest extent and we will present the same quality of event as in previous years. There are plenty of hotel spaces around the City, prices aren’t too different to the ones you’ve been used to, and we’ll try and get a list of accommodations up soon. Importantly the dates are slightly different too. Mark these in your diaries….
MAY 29th – 31st 2020
So! A new chapter opens for us, perhaps when Eden has been completed and is functioning, they’ll want a Steampunk festival in their spaces, who can say? In the meantime, stay with us, a grassroots Steampunk Festival, by Steampunks for Steampunks! The programme will be announced shortly, and we’ll be putting some photos up to show you the space – we think you’ll like it.
Hello Splendids everywhere! Now the dust is settling on another ASDO – and what an ASDO – we’d like to announce that we’re shutting down for 6 weeks to rest, recover and holiday. If you can not message us about ASDO or put in applications during this period we’d be grateful.
This has been a busy one and we’d like to reset. 🧐😃
Loading will begin at the Platform (LA4 4DB) from 8am sat morning. Please drive through the bollards (there is room) onto the platform forecourt. Drive to the far end nearest the Kentucky. The double doors at that end will be open. Upon entering the building you will find tables laid out with names on. Proceed to find yours. If you do not require tables there will be a number of staff members around to remove them for you. We use them initially to mark out your pitch space. As soon as you have finished unloading your vehicle please remove it to make room for others.
If you wish to drop stuff off on the Friday you may do so between 2pm and 4pm ONLY
Doors open to the Public at 10 am and close again at 4.30pm The Parade is at 4.45pm on the Sat from outside the midland hotel, we would like as many traders to attend as possible. You are able to leave everything set up overnight as the buildings will be secure.
Due to illness we are very sad to announce that Alice’s Night Circus is unable to perform on Saturday night. The crew at ASDO wish her a speedy recovery and we hope to see her back on the circuit very soon.
Never fear we are please to announce that our very own Mistress of Ceremonies, Madam Zuri Arrosa, will be performing. Serenading our audience with songs from the screen and stage in a show that is packed with plenty of audience participation, fun and frolics.
Along with acclaimed electro swing band ‘The After Hours’ this promises to be a foot stomping night full of steampunk shenanigans!
